WHAT ARE DENTURES & PARTIALS?
A denture and partial are useful in filling in a smile that is missing teeth. Patients with advanced gum disease or who have many missing teeth will often benefit from a prosthetic device. Your new partial or full denture will last for years before it will need to be replaced. Dentures offer both cosmetic as well as restorative benefits to patients needing this appliance.
WHY MIGHT DENTURES & PARTIALS BE NEEDED?
The reason you might need a denture is because you’re missing either all of your teeth or many of them. Partials clip onto surrounding teeth and are best for individuals who still have a lot of their own healthy teeth. Full dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth and are a great choice for patients who have gum disease and will be having extractions done. Dentures of all kinds help to improve your functionality and quality of life, making it easier to eat, chew and speak without problems.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR DENTURES & PARTIALS?
We will examine your teeth and mouth to determine if dentures are right for you. The majority of people who want and need dentures can easily come in to have the appliance made. If you have gum disease that has caused many of your teeth to become decayed and loose, we may suggest removing them and placing a denture. Older dentures can easily be replaced in our office at your own convenience.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCESS TO MAKE DENTURES & PARTIALS?
We first take impressions of your teeth and mouth. These impressions are then used to make the new appliance for you. You will come in for a denture fitting so that we can make minor adjustments to the way the prosthetic fits and feels. You should remove the denture each night in order to give it a good clean and store it away. Be sure to store the denture safely away from pets and small children who could destroy the prosthetic on you. Your new denture will improve your smile and quality of life.
